Nicole Griffith, M.A., LPC, LMFT
Therapist and Owner at Achieve Connection Counseling, PLLC

I was drawn to this profession–being a counselor– quite naturally, and there is nothing I would rather do. I received my Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and then continued my education at Sam Houston State University, earning my Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with a focus on marriage and family systems therapy. My experience includes working in the public school system as both a teacher and counselor, as well as providing counseling in private practice and community mental health agencies. I specialize in family and couples therapy, and have several years of experience working with children and adolescents.

I use a variety of theoretical approaches and techniques to create an individualized plan with my clients to best fit their goals for counseling. I have specialized training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy (check out more about it here). Additionally, I utilize techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Family Systems Theory, Attachment Theory, Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy. I believe that people are doing the best they can with the tools that they have. My role is to provide a non-judgmental and safe space for my clients to process their hurt, and teach them tools to make positive changes towards their goals.

My approach to counseling takes into account the individual(s) in my office and how they fit into their relational systems with others, ie. as a family member, a spouse, a friend, a mother, a significant other. I believe that for therapy to have the best possible outcomes for clients, it must change the client and the client’s system in which they exist. I want you to make positive changes that extend out of my office and into your real life and relationships!

Outside of my office, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my husband and two dogs. I am a hiker, a reader,  a cyclist, an aspiring yogi, and an animal lover. My personal journey is an ongoing pursuit of vulnerability, authenticity, and deeper connection with others.
